Article summary

The goal of this process is to catch patients at a younger age, primarily when they are in the hygiene rooms. This develops a screen procedure for wisdom teeth and ultimately ensures better health of our patients by having these out at a younger age when they are easier to be removed and patients heal faster.

To do this we will utilize dental intel to screen for patients 13 - 25 and ensure we have a CT every two years per our protocol.

From here you will research the patient by looking at xrays and their chart to determine if they still have wisdom teeth. If they do we should be doing a consult.

We will alert hygiene (or doctor if in that room) of the consult and Shawn, Rosa or Brittany will meet with the patient. This email can be sent weekly.

Please understand that the Wisdom Tooth channel is intended to be used FROM other members of the office TO the Wisdom tooth team. Because of how notifications are setup, it would not make sense for the wisdom tooth team to reach out TO the rest of the office via this channel.

They will then treatment plan the case and get it added to the schedule.

Starting at age 13 all patients will have a CT taken. This will be repeated every 2 years until the teeth are ready for extraction. This replaces a pano that is due.
